Microraptor was a small carnivorous winged dinosaur from woodlands of China that lived in the Early Cretaceous 120 million years ago. Its name means ‘small one who seizes’. It was one of the smallest non-avian dinosaurs at only 1.2 m (3.9 ft) in length and had long flight feathers on the legs as well as the wings. It is believed that it was capable of powered flight as well as gliding.
